Duration Series shingles feature SureNail technology, which uses a highly visible engineered fabric strip with nailing zone performance in the nailing area, providing excellent holding power for easy and consistent installation.

SureNail technology also features a triple layer of protection between the two shingle layers, helping to keep the layers intact and laminated and preventing them from separating due to strong winds.

The Oakridge series features laminated shingles with a double layer in the nailing area, made of mixed minerals, copper and ceramic that help provide superior grip on the layers. It also features StreakGuard™ algae resistance protection, which helps prevent algae growth even in locations exposed to changing weather.

What is the installation process for Owens Corning shingles?

Owens Corning shingles must be installed in strict compliance with the International Building Code. You can do it yourself, but if you want to ensure the optimum performance of the roof shingles and prevent damage, it is best to contact a professional technician or contractor to install it, especially if you have no prior experience.Today’s Homeowner Tip

Before installation, be sure to check local or international building codes for specified roofing requirements and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

Shingles should be stored flat in an enclosed, ventilated area with a temperature of about 110°F. Make sure the shingles are protected from any elements. Also, do not store them near appliances such as radiators or steam pipes, as this can damage them.

Owens Corning® recommends that fasteners be aluminum nails, galvanized steel, or stainless steel with a 3/8 inch diameter head and 12 gauge shank, and for wood decking, the preferred method for attaching shingles is the use of nails.

In addition, the deck on which the shingles will be installed must be dry before and after installation. Also, it is best to use Owens Corning Self-Adhered Ice and Water Barrier product for roofs exposed to water and ice.

What is the care and maintenance of Owens Corning shingles?

Care and maintenance of Owens Corning® shingles is essential to maintaining the value and performance of your roofing shingles.

One of the most important things to help maintain your roof shingles is to always check gutters and downpipes for any blockages as this   can lead to damage to the roof by water accumulation and the growth of mould and bacteria . Today’s Homeowner Tip

Make sure to regularly clean up any accumulated debris such as dust, leaves, sticks or any windblown debris and check for algae or moss growth as this can cause your roof to decay. Using lead or zinc control strips can help prevent their growth.

Checking the shingle tabs is another important task. Check if there are any loose shingles and if there are any, repair them immediately with roofing adhesive or sealant to secure them. If the shingle tabs are missing or damaged, it is best to hire a roofing contractor and have them replace the shingles.
